Overview

An exciting opportunity has opened for a Sales Manager to oversee sales growth and team leadership in the North of England and Scotland. This role is field-based, focusing on strategic territory development within the life sciences and related sectors. The successful candidate will bring energy, a proactive mindset, and a passion for driving results through mentorship rather than management, account development, and market engagement.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead sales activities and manage business development efforts across the designated territory

  • Provide direct line management and mentorship to field-based sales professionals through guidance and mentorship

  • Support the team in developing customer accounts, expanding market share, and deepening client relationships

  • Visit client sites regularly (60–80% of time in the field) to support sales efforts and relationship management 

  • Collaborate with internal departments on local marketing and customer engagement initiatives

  • Actively contribute to lead generation and pipeline development

  • Represent the regional team in leadership meetings, sharing insights and feedback on commercial activities, competitors, and customer needs

  • Deliver regular reports and forecasts to the national sales leadership

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in life sciences or a related field

  • Minimum 5 years of B2B sales experience, preferably in scientific, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical sectors

  • At least 1–3 years of experience in a sales management or team leadership role

  • Familiarity with customer engagement in academic, biotech, and pharma markets

  • Comfortable using CRM platforms and standard Microsoft Office applications
