This role is a second point of contact for current users, Distributors, OEM and internal customers who need to support with Company products – being the main person, holding the Customer, Distributor and the Company together.  The purpose is to provide an excellent level of technical support to current accounts and prospective customers.  Duties are as diverse as helping configure the correct systems for a given microscope to helping troubleshoot a complex problem with a system, or to hands on training with technicians from OEM Customers.  The role is based in the Company’s head office and will require occasional travel to Customer sites, both UK and international. In addition, there is a sales region that will also be allocated.

Key Duties:

  • Be the second point of contact for customer technical problems
  • Help debug system issues for customers and production personnel dealing with systems returned for service
  • Advise on / raise customer returns, repairs and upgrades
  • Help train OEM partner personnel handle, install, troubleshoot and maintain Company’s product
  • Manage the Company’s Demonstration equipment, raising loan agreements, assembling and testing the equipment, and checking it on return
  • Sales responsibility for a particular region 

Secondary Duties:

  • Assist with Sales Administration tasks to cover busy periods / holidays
  • Assist with Tradeshows
  • Help with training of colleagues
  • Any other duties as reasonably required

Qualifications/ Skills:

  • Degree level qualified (or similar) in engineering, physics or a life science related subject
  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined, and able to work unsupervised
  • Good written and verbal communication in English - ability to communicate complex technical details clearly and simply to all
  • Technical understanding of mechanical, electromechanical and electrical systems. Able to help customers understand technical products and to help them trouble shoot and establish issues.
  • Accurate worker with attention to detail and a methodical, systematic approach
  • Patient, with good listening and questioning skills, able to appropriately set and manage customer expectations
  • Able to calm a difficult customer / situation and not inflame them  / it
  • IT literate, competent with basic data analysis in Excel, documents in Word

  • Knowledge and experience of optics and  in particular microscopy
  • Experience in scripting / coding
  • Commercial awareness

  • Competence in other languages
