The Role
- To both grow and maintain current sales base of area, regularly visiting both new and existing customers
- To promote and sell new products
- To identify new customers
- To provide support, both technical and operational to customers
- To increase sales in area (both turnover and profit)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Visit 8 / 9 customers per week, making appointments prior to visit
- Attend appointments punctually and respect meeting duration constraints
- Organise appointments to ensure route efficiency
- Advise on product portfolio to suit client needs
- Provide quotations and pricing for products required
- Follow up on quotations once submitted
- Put delivery plans in place / work with internal sales team to set up standing orders
- Provide technical back-up and support when required
- Provide a complete breakdown on sales in territory on a monthly basis, for review with Managing Director / Operations Director / Sales Manager
- Aid in selling short shelf life / slow moving stock
- Feedback on product & service levels & issues
- Engage in Market Research to understand market within territory
- One off price negotiation for new products from existing suppliers
- Practicing defensive driving to avoid accidents and maximise fuel efficiency
- Follow Sat-Nav to avoid unnecessary delays and vehicle idling
- Report any HSE issues to the HSE & Facilities Manager
Qualifications
- Ideally, University Degree (not necessarily specializing in a Science)
- Ideally, some existing sales training / experience
- Good levels of literacy & numeracy
- Full UK driving license
Skills
- Clear communication / good understanding of product portfolio
- Ability to build long standing relationships with customers
- Good use of excel / Microsoft word to be able to draw up quotations
- Good listening – understanding customer needs
- Ability to work unsupervised on a day to day basis
- Self-motivated and good organization skills (organizing efficient diary etc)
- Good presentation skills
Experience
- Either some form of sales / science background / knowledge ideal however not essential.
- Any form of customer facing role
