Reports to Sales Team Leader

We are looking for a determined and ‘high spirited’ Business Development Manager to help us develop our customers/ business. You will be the front of the company and will have the loyalty to create and apply an effective sales plan. The Business Development Manager, under the direction of the UK Sales Team Leader, is generally accountable for developing key customer relationships with new and current clients. The Business Development Manager will work with staff from various departments to grow sales opportunities and increase revenue. Key to this role will be exploring for new business opportunities to increase overall business growth. Also, the BDM will manage current clients to make sure that ongoing satisfaction and retain business. The goal is to push continuous financial development through boosting sales and producing strong relationships with clients.

Job Duties:

  • Prospect within a defined market or geographic area to make sure that constant opportunities for business development
  • Realise business opportunities, create leads, and seek out partnerships
  • Identify and win new opportunities within intricate multi-stakeholder accounts
  • Control current clients to make sure that ongoing satisfaction and retain business
  • Negotiate and close business deals
  • Use understanding of the market and competitors to identify and grow the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators
  • Build long-term relationships with new and current customers
  • Strategic planning to develop business within the targeted locations and identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to raised sales
  • Conduct research to identify likely clients
  • Present new products and services and improve current relationships
  • Anticipate clients’ future needs and devise strategies and action plans to meet those needs
  • Write and display technical proposals
  • Work with technical staff and colleagues to meet customer needs
  • Visit industry functions and provide feedback and information on arising trends
  • Negotiate with and present to senior management on business trends in order to grow new services, products, and distribution channels

Requirements:

  • Experience with optical, mechanical, or electro-mechanical capital equipment products is desirable
  • Minimum of three (3) years of sales experience in a similar industry
  • Exceptional organizational, strategic, planning, and implementation skills
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning to recognise fundamental principles, reasons, and facts
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Great interpersonal, communication, and relationship authority skills with the capability to grow rapport
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • A well-defined sense of teamwork and collaboration, including solid negotiation, competition solving, and people understanding skills
  • Demonstrate working experience and track record as a business development manager, sales executive or a related role
  • Proficiency in English
  • BSc in Engineering/Physics/Optics desirable

Work Conditions:

Main focus will be sales in the UK and Ireland. Be able to support other sales worldwide. Overnight and local travel up to 15 days per month.
