Job Description:

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for making sure that projects are delivered on time and to the appropriate quality standards (within agreed specifications). The Assistant Project Manager would also be participating with a wide range of groups to maintain co-operative, inspired and successful project teams. The Assistant Project Manager will also be required to work with the organisation to develop business cases for new product proposals and to present the findings to the Operations Board.

Project Management:

  • To make sure that projects are delivered timely and within scope
  • Correspond the project goals, breakthroughs & deliverables to project teams
  • Control of project plans for each NPD/other business projects as approved by the Ops Board
  • Work with Project Managers and Project Leads to provide a professional project management service internally and externally to key stakeholders
  • Supervise and report on growth of projects to all stakeholders
  • Measure project achievement and deliverables using the relevant systems, tools and techniques
  • Collect and assemble project information to allow successful project review (lessons learnt) at close of project
  • Is the first point of contact for the project centre team, clients and stakeholders for projects under their management

Pre-New Product Development (NPD) management:

  • Comparing new product proposals from internal departments and subsidiaries
  • To grow ranking scores of the submitted new product proposals by liaising with all relevant internal/external resource to collect product specific scientific, clinical, market, regulatory and product specific intellectual property information
  • Presenting (with support from Project Manager) new product proposal findings and rankings to Operations Board

Qualifications & Skills:


  • Working within a Biological Sciences or Clinical or R&D laboratory setting
  • Understanding of In-vitro diagnostic (IVD) methods
  • Basic or Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office software’s (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) or equivalent
  • Good verbal & written communication skills – expressive and tactful manner
  • Organised, accurate and constant attention to detail
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to control sensitive and sometimes private information
  • Able to build good relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Punctual and reliable

  • A scientific degree in Biology/ Biochemistry or Immunology or related
  • Instructing and Reinforcement training
  • To have knowledge of the principles of productive project management
  • Have worked in a controlled environment
  • Have basic knowledge of the diagnostic market
  • Basic/Intermediate skills in Microsoft Project (or equivalent) and/or formal Project Management qualifications
  • Basic understanding of clinical chemistry
